Actor Blue Jasmine was born as Andrew ClaySilverstein on September 29, 1957, in Brooklyn, New York, United States of America. He was raised in a Jewish family in Brooklyn. His parents are Jacqueline Silverstein (mother) and Fred Silverstein, real estate agent and boxer in New York.

Andrew has an older sister named Natalie Michael. He attended James Madison High School, New York, before pursuing graduate studies, but dropped out to focus on his career. Clay started showing his talent at the age of 5 when he performed in the presence of his family members.
