Lightning: something people fear, and something we often see in the background of cheesy horror films. It’s reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (better known as the CDC) that around 40 million lightning strikes hit the ground in the US alone every year, and up to 500 people get struck by it every year. This makes getting stuck by lightning around a 1 in 500,000 chance. And within that number, quite a few celebrities have fallen into those crazy odds.

Sadly, up to 50 people die from lightning strikes. While the CDC also reported that almost 90 percent of lightning strike victims survive, quite a few still pass. And within those numbers, quite a few celebrities have fallen into that statistic as well.

The most recent instance was in the summer of 2022 when One Tree Hill star Bevin Prince’s husband William Friend was struck and killed by lightning, per NBCNews.

While our hearts are with the families of those who passed, people have been fascinated and horrified by the prospect of lightning strikes.

From actors to baseball players, legends to footballers, these celebrities have been struck by lightning. (And one of them has been struck more than once!)
