Her mother, Blanca Estela Aispuro Aispuro is a homemaker and supporter of her husband’s businesses; while her uncle is the slain drug kingpin Ignacio “Nacho” Coronel. Before his death, he played an important role for the Sinaloa Cartel and was one of El Chapo’s confidants.

Joaquin was first captured in 1993 and was reportedly serving a 20-year sentence after being found guilty of drug trafficking and murder. However, he bribed prison guards and escaped maximum federal security in 2001. He was later declared wanted by the US authorities and given a bounty of 60 million pesos by the Mexican government. Likewise, the United States government offered a $5 million reward for information leading to his capture.
On February 22, 2014, Emma Coronel Aispuro’s husband was captured in Sinaloa, Mexico. He managed to escape again, but was arrested again by the Mexican marines and the federal police. On January 19, 2017, he was deported to the United States for his involvement in the Sinaloa cartel. He was found guilty on February 12, 2019 and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
