'No difference between Joe Biden and the Ayatollah'

Republican lawmakers are lambasting the Biden administration for announcing plans to send $100 million in aid to Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

President Joe Biden made the announcement while visiting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu Wednesday as Israel remains at war with Hamas terrorists. Biden has been a fierce supporter of Israel’s fight, making numerous public statements and tweets condemning Hamas.

However, Republicans accused Biden of fueling Hamas through the aid.

“Aid to the Gaza Strip is what Biden is prioritizing today?” Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis asked on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. “This aid will of course be commandeered by Hamas. No taxpayer dollars should be sent to Gaza. Stop funding jihad!”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., shared the same fears while blasting Biden’s announcement.

“Biden just announced he’s going to be giving $100 million to the ‘Gaza Strip’ aka Hamas,” Greene wrote on X. “The same amount of money Iran gives Hamas every single year.”

Greene continued by noting there is “now no difference between Joe Biden and the Ayatollah of Iran,” referring to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was chastised by X owner Elon Musk after cheering a video of Israeli civilians fleeing gunfire.

Biden's announcement comes after Sen. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., called on the administration Tuesday to halt U.S. involvement with the United Nations because of a relief agency dedicated to Palestinians.

“It is an antisemitic organization,” Blackburn said. “They do not deserve to get one penny of U.S. taxpayer dollars. That is why I have my resolution that would cut this funding until Iran is expelled from the UN.”

On Wednesday, the hashtag #GenocideJoe was trending on X, accusing Biden of fueling the war with U.S. aid money.
