Real Life Couples who are on Y&R together - The Young and the Restless

Do you feel the real life couples have an impact on the Y&R couples? Does anyone find themselves rooting for those couples to be united on screen as well as off screen?

Young & Restless Real-Life Romance Timeline: Sharon Case/Mark Grossman | Soaps.com (sheknows.com)

Mark Grossman (Adam) and Sharon Case (Sharon) are a real life couple and it has made me hope for them to be an onscreen couple as well. It has been a very long time since I wanted Adam and Sharon to connect again but the chemistry between MG and SC has been obvious and that is intriguing.

Young & Restless’ Bryton James and Brytni Sarpy Relationship Timeline | Soaps.com (sheknows.com)

Brytini Sarpy (Elena) and Bryton James (Devon) are also a real life couple and they have had chemistry since the day Brytini first opened the door and saw Devon standing there. I enjoy them together as a couple and even though I liked Hillary I feel like Elena is his true heart now. Even now Amanda and Devon have no chemistry and I wonder if it’s just me feeling like he belongs with Elena or have the dynamics of the show shifted since BJ and BS are together?

I think being a real life couple definitely translates on screen. Not to sound mushy, but when Adam and Sharon look at each other I see the connection. Same with Devon and Elena, there was a certain sweetness about them as a couple and I for sure think that comes from the real life connection.

When they first starting shooting scenes after the shut down Devon/Bryton and Elena/Brytni were only two who were close who kissed, etc yes they lived together in real life but to me it made the others, who had to stand 6 ft apart, more obvious chemistry between them? not really

Mark and Sharon absolutely no on screen chemistry to me none

It makes me want the opposite. And a lot of times I don’t see chemistry with the characters and I can’t help but wonder about the couples.

Mark and Sharon have a great deal of chemistry on screen - they actually shine on screen.
Sharon has zero chemistry with Jorgi as Rey - painful to watch.

stand 6 ft apart

Per Wikipedia The country entered a general nationwide lockdown on 23 March 2020 during the first wave of the pandemic

Elena made her first appearance in GC on March 19, 2019. But I’ve only noticed them in the scene where they slept together when she was dating Nate and Devon was beginning to like Amanda. I liked Elena with Devon from the very beginning. The day she opened the door where she was nursing a very sick Jett Slade (Devon’s cousin Ana’s father) I knew they were going to end up together. At that time Elena was strong, as she is today, and she often put Devon in his place when it came to Slade. The attraction that led them to become a couple was in their eyes straight away. I REALLY want Devon to be happy after loosing his wife and baby.

I feel like it might be harder rather than easier for a real-life couple to be a couple onscreen.

I mean, I think it would have to be awkward to be there on set, surrounded by a couple of also zen crew members just off-camera, and you take your partner in your arms and kiss them, and then the director yells “Cut!” and says “What kind of a kiss was that? Let’s try again and this time please try to get it right.”

That is definitely opinion. I saw mad chemistry with MM and SC but not as much with MG.

I am definitely NOT bashing Sharon…the person but the character, may not have chemistry with Rey / her husband / but when Adam walks in a room she smiles too much sorry it is an opinion nothing against the person but when the scene calls for her to be loving with Rey she shouldn’t be smiling at adam

and chemistry between MG and SC NOTHING not to me

I’m with you, I love the chemistry between Devin and Elena. Their eyes just sparkle. But I don’t see any chemistry between Sharon and Adam, she just looks at him with these stupid googly eyes, that looks completely fake. But I don’t see chemistry with her and Rey either.

I definitely see the chemistry with mark and sharon, its in the way they look at each other. yes sharon smiles, because its adam she wants, so get this moving.

Well sharon rosales shouldn’t be smiling at any other man. She is married. Sharon and Adam will not be getting together, at least for awhile.

Oddly I have yet to see chemistry between real life couples portraying couples on the show.

At one time the actors portraying Victoria and JT were married. They were also a couple on the show. But I didn’t see any chemistry on screen.

When the actor playing Chance had to take some time off because of Covid-19 the husband of the actress playing Abby filled in as Chance. That was during the wedding and honeymoon.

Given that everyone was staying 2 metres (6 feet) away from each other, to me the only reason that temporary recast worked, is because it would have been really bizarre to see two people get married and go on a honeymoon and not even get within arm’s length of each other. At least as a real-life couple that quarantined together, they were able to kiss and hug. But I didn’t see any on-screen chemistry between them at all. I felt she had a lot more chemistry with the actor that was off sick and subsequently later let go.

Same with Devon and Elena. I know they are living together in real life. But again I don’t see any on screen chemistry between them. I have yet to see any romantic/sexual chemistry between Devon and any woman that they match him up with.

And finally there is Sharon and Adam. I understand her and the current actor playing Adam are involved in real life. I know Sharon and Adam have been hooked up in the past with different actors playing the role of Adam. But I don’t see any chemistry between Sharon and Adam regardless of who is portraying the role of Adam including the current actor whom I absolutely love in the role!

I think Sharon had great chemistry with Nick. But even so I like them better as friends. And I thought she had some pretty decent chemistry when she was with Brad and not too bad chemistry when she was with Dylan. In the beginning her and Rey weren’t too bad but then he became more like her father (bossy and controlling) and they kind of lost that sizzle.

Have I missed any real life couples portraying couples on the show? I tend to not follow the life of the actors in the roles.

I actually love him in the role too, I didn’t think I would at first, but he grew on me.

I definitely could see the real life connection transfer to onscreen chemistry with Bryton and Brytni as Devon and Elena - the emotional intimacy … the natural way they fit so easily into each other’s personal space … the extra light and joy between them when scenes allowed them to be happy.

With them, in the spring and summer of 2019, it was almost like watching a real life couple fall in love on screen. And, considering the known timeline of their relationship, I guess it was. Did you know that Elena and Devon’s on screen “I love yous” happened around the same time as their real life ones? (A tidbit from an Instagram story - back in the day when they shared more details)

Watching the natural spontaneity between them on screen has spoiled me when it now comes to fully accepting acted and directed chemistry in other couples.

I don’t feel the same degree of connection with Sharon and Mark - although, as has been said above, I do note Sharon smiling more.

Isn’t that funny? I see the complete opposite. Sharon and Adam sizzle, while Devon and Elena have always been a complete bore. It’s hard for me to believe the actors are a real-life couple, because there’s no chemistry there, on-screen. Not trying to be mean; just my opinion.

This whole thread has been so interesting to see how people see these real life couples. For me, both of them translate their real life romances to great screen chemistry.

I liked him from his very first day on air. Apparently he watched old episodes where Michael Muhney was in the role. So I think that helped because Michael’s version of Adam was very popular. So he brought some of what Michael had into the role and added his own finesse to it. And in my opinion it worked big time!

So now smiling is cheating LOL
