When Tristan Rogers left General Hospital, after a decade on the show, I’ll be it there was one year he took off, he left on top. He was considered one of the very top soap opera, stars, and the legend that brought General Hospital back along with Anthony Geory and Genie Francis. What I never quite understood, was how a show that idolized Scorpio as a hero and a super spy, and the best police commissioner in Port. Charles would treat the actor and the character so carelessly as to bring him on again, part time, had to truly dismiss most of his abilities when he was the leading man on the show, now, I realize that the TV show had moved on back to its mafia days with the leader of the show being the character of Sonny Corinthians. I also realize that they wanted to put Finola Hughes in a more leadership row has to raise the status of women. However, I just don’t understand how a hero character became so belittled.

This week, when Laura was seeking a new police commissioner, she came to Anna, even though she was revealed to be a double spy in her past. You would think that she would have gone to Robert Scorpio, who might do better with a return to being police commissioner, compared to his lackluster stint as the district attorney. I also realize that the actor is quite a bit older now. It just seems quite disrespectful to the general hospital history. I guess I’m just venting here, but I was wondering if anyone else had similar thoughts.

Remember that I am not talking negatively about any other character, but wondering why Tristan Rogers was put on the back burner status since his returns.

This show is overly bloated with cast. There are over 60 cast members. It’s impossible to put everyone in a prominent position and showcase them every day or even every week or month. Look at Taggart for example. The last he was seen or mentioned was back in July of 2023 when he was drunk out of his mind in an elevator at the Metro Court.

This show is the Sonny and Carly show. I’ve been watching less than 2 years and it’s been my observation that unless you are involved in a storyline with Sonny or Carly you don’t stand a hope in Hell of being seen anytime soon.

I used to watch this show, stopped for the reason you state. Became Sonny and Carly show. Went to following the board and tuning in every so often recently added more days of watching but now again more Sonny and Carly at center of everything.
Maybe it’s writing for all soaps, Y&R seems to be the Victor show

This happens on all soaps.
The senior stars are put on backburner to accommodate the new vanguard.
I suspect that it might sting a bit to have once been the be all and end all of a show. However, looking at the situation optimistically, these vets are able to still practice their craft in a medium that they love. For everything there is a season…

So when do Sonny and Carly get put on the backburner? Sonny has been on over 30 years and the character of Carly isn’t far behind him. Can they please get moved to the backburner for a change?

I think that the vets are generally more advanced in age than Sonny and especially Carly. Tristan Rogers is in his late seventies, whereas MB and LW have a bit more mileage left, age wise.
I personally love CarSon, being a relatively newer viewer, so I do empathize with the long term fans who may be ready for the highlighting of other characters. Well, to each his/her/their own.

They are the lead actors along with Jason & Nina. They are contractually obligated to be in a certain amount of episodes.

Tristan Rogers and Emma Samms were instrumental in keeping GH on the air once Tony and Genie left. Gloria Monty even said this. TPTB thought the show would definitely be cancelled. GM came up with the pairing of Robert and Holly. The show, not only retained its stellar ratings, but at times, exceeded them!

I am appreciative for Tristan. He added a great deal to this show! As long as he is capable, the show should respect him, and allow him to continue to perform!

Heath wise, I think a smaller role suits him fine.

Robert “freaking” Scorpio will always be one of my favorites! Loved him back when he first came on and still love him now. I am always happy when Tristan is on my screen.

Tristan, like Finola used to only come back for short stints usually during sweeps and then leave again. Finola didn’t really come back full time until 2012 I think.
