According to Av Harris, communications director for Bridgeport, Colon was traveling east on Pearl Street on a 2012 Kwang Yang motor scooter when he ran the stop sign and struck a 2015 Kia Optima driven by Donald Brown, 58, of Bridgeport. 

Colon, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected from the scooter into the roadway.

He was transported to Bridgeport Hospital where he is listed in critical condition with a skull fracture and other injuries. Brown was not injured.

The accident is currently under investigation.
